What is the Featured Figure of the Week?
The Featured Figure of the Week is any customizer's chance to share one his
custom figures a little more indepth with the visitors of Customizers'
Underground. Most customizers tend to say very little about their figures
when they display them online. They will give the recipe, but not much more.
I would like to know more about the techniques and tricks to making any
particular custom action figure. Usually there's more work than what the simple
recipe implies. Often there's a tiny bit of slicing, sanding, or sculpting to
customize a figure that will go unstated when the customizer displays the figure
on his own webpage.
Also, many custom figures are of characters I frankly don't know.
Many times I see a great custom action figure, but have to wonder who
the character is. I wish customizers would explain at least a little
who the character is because not everyone knows.
Any action figure customizer can have any of his custom figures as the
Feature Figure of the Week. All it really takes is a decent jpeg of the figure
and a few paragraphs about the figure. If you are a customizer and want to
submit a custom figure and write-up please address these questions:
- How did you get the idea for this figure?
- How long did it take you to make it?
- What was the hardest part of making the figure?
- What was the easiest part of making the figure?
- Who is this character?
- Why did you make a figure of this character? Why should anyone care about this character?
If there's even more you have to say about your custom action figure,
please do so.
Finally, Featured Figure of the Week is sort a misnomer. I actually
have the same custom figure as the Featured Figure for two weeks because
I don't have 52 custom figures to feature. In fact, right now I don't
even have 26 custom figures to become Featured Figure of the Week. I
really need more submissions to make this part of Customizers'
Underground work.
